Awards & Prizes
This year’s contest offers the following 4 award categories:

The CGA-BC Business Start-Up Award:
This award will be given to the top three recipients, tiered ranking, who have been in business for a maximum of 24 months or have not completed 2 fiscal years as of December 16th, 2008.
Each of the award recipients will have demonstrated a viable and comprehensive business plan as well as succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.
1st Start-Up Award Prize: $5,000 cash
2nd Start-Up Award Prize: $2,000 cash
3rd Start-Up Award Prize: $1,000 cash

The Telus Business Growth Award: This award will be given to the top three recipients, tiered ranking, who have been in business for a minimum of 24 months or have completed more than 2 fiscal years as of December 16th, 2008.
Each of the award recipients will have comprehensive business plans and have successfully overcome obstacles to be ready to explore opportunities for expansion and growth.
1st Growth Award Prize: $5,000 cash
2nd Growth Award Prize: $2,000 cash
3rd Growth Award Prize: $1,000 cash
*BONUS* Community Leadership Award: $1,000 cash
A "bonus" award will be presented to a contestant that demonstrates the leadership in managing the risks and opportunities posed by climate change. Judges will consider how contestants take action and benefit from climate change through energy efficient business practices and new business opportunities that generate revenue resulting from the changing climate.
*BONUS* Going Global Award: $1,000 cash
A "bonus" award will be presented to a contestant who demonstrates the most viable import/export business plan. Judges will consider how contestants plan to enter the global markets taking into account their marketing strategies, distribution and selling strategies and knowledge of the countries' entry regulations (i.e. custom duties).
It is possible for a Contest participant to win the Community Leadership Award or Going Global Award, and a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place prize.
The Contest is hosted by Small Business BC.
